“It was important to me to also see women of color, images more dominant in the space. It’s usually more dominant to see white people in these spaces. So you’ll see the cards are predominantly images of black people or, Latino people. To give acknowledgement, we are here and present. And we want you to have as much access to greeting cards that look like you. That’s important to see yourself,” Lugo said.
Lugo emphasized the importance of being a Black business owner and Williamsport native, opening the doors to her shop just in time for Black History Month. As a woman of color, she said she believes in reinvesting into your native community, and as a Black business owner to set an example for future generations to come.
